Gentlemen’s Yacht
SOFICO, the most recent of the 43 metre line made of composite material, created by the CRN shipyard in partnership with Zuccon International Project that took care of the external profile, is strongly characterized by her elegant art deco areas, accentuated by the dark and warm tones of Canaletto Walnut and the geometries along the furniture and the flooring.
The sign style is definitely masculine. It is the softly whispered idea of the colonial clubs, permeating a sophisticated atmosphere and lighting up the fantasy and the nostalgia of distant and enchanting places. The choice of materials goes back to the explorers of exotic seas: the skilful cabinetry is complemented with pieces of rare wood, woven leather coatings, cast bronze and precious fabrics. Unique handmade items with detailed fittings which have been patiently polished and coated by skilled craftsmen when they were being processed.
"Sofico" presents all the CRN signature features: a Technogym and a sauna on the lower deck stern, an area dedicated to fitness which is directly linked to the sea through the hatch aft opening that can be transformed into a beach touching the sea. Not to miss, the owner's suite terrace, furnished with comfortable armchairs and a coffee table, ideal for an exclusive breakfast overlooking the sea.
The areas are sub-divided in a classic manner: the external area on the main deck leads to a wide open space main saloon with its conversation area and freestanding Fendi sofas and Giorgetti armchairs as well as a dining table for 12 guests. The warm colours of the wood panelling and the parquet floors are softened by the gold chrome adorning the central coffee tables and the light shades of the fabrics and the geometrical patterned carpet in the middle. The painting in gold that dominates the walls of this area also evokes geometries and modern signs. Crocodile leather, and soft leather are used for the owner's suite which, besides a cabin and a full-beam honey-coloured onyx bath, includes a study all furnished with Fendi furniture, Loro Piana fabrics and Tai Ping carpet.
This deck is also equipped with an haute cuisine galley.
On the lower deck, the guest area has two double and two twin bed cabins for a total of 10 guests on board. At the bow, on the same deck, there are 4 crew cabins, while the captain's accommodation is on the upper deck behind the modern wheelhouse.
The natural elements, the crocodile leather and the sculptures with horns decorating the upper deck, like hunting trophies, are resolved with elegant and refined volute and strongly emphasize the masculine traits of the boat. On this boat, the sky lounge is an original place, a meeting place par excellence. In this area there is a black grand piano which blends in with the dark tones of the armchairs and the ebony game table. The inlay of the Tai Ping carpet is also black contrasting the comfortable white L-shaped sofa in the middle. Outside on the sundeck there is a shady dining area.
Relaxation and facilities can be found on the sun deck on the bow which is equipped with a Jacuzzi and 2 round coffee tables for leisure moments on the boat. On the stern there are elegant sunbeds, a barbecue and a bar covered by a rollbar.
The boat has 2 CATERPILLAR C32-C engines with a maximum speed of 15.5 knots and a sailing speed of 13 knots for a vessel that offers the pleasure of sailing and all the comfort of cruising.
SOFICO is classified within the maximum RINA class and complies with the applicable MCA.
CRN AND RIVA
Together again for an exciting new project.
Montecarlo, 24th September 2009 - CRN and Riva, two prestigious Ferretti Group brands, have announced a collaboration to launch a project for producing a new line of yachts, measuring 50 to 80 metres. Created by Mauro Micheli and Offi cina Italiana Design, the team that has designed the entire Riva range to date; the innovative new models skilfully combine the world renowned style and elegance of Riva, with the naval design skill and construction ability of the CRN shipyard in Ancona. The CRN and Riva partnership is not new but has evolved from a strong history. The relationship between the two brands, both now part of Ferretti Group, dates back almost 40 years to 1970 when Carlo Riva decided to annul the agreement Riva had with a Dutch shipyard, in order to sign a partnership with CRN, for the construction of megayachts designed by the Carlo Riva Yacht Division. Besides simplifying logistics and giving Carlo Riva greater control over the process, the original partnership was made with the awareness that the exclusive artisan factor of the work and high technical-naval, plant and style level of CRN were a guarantee of top quality products. Five 23.5m motoryachts from the Marco Polo series and two Vespucci models measuring 90 and 100 feet, were launched between 1970 and 1978. Today, the wish to combine Riva's tradition, heedful of elegance and style, with CRN's design experience and exclusiveness in the construction of megayachts is renewed, with the aim of servicing an increasing demand for top quality megayachts with a unique, unmistakeable style. "Ferretti Group is already an example of the creation of an industrial pole through the acquisition and integration of yacht producers with highly complementary characteristics. This project shows, once again, how all the Group brands can efficiently contribute to a project which is unique on the global nautical scene, focusing on the different features and distinctiveness of each one,"declared Norberto Ferretti, Chairman and Founder of Ferretti Group. "This agreement has renewed a relationship established in the 70s by Carlo Riva, who had already grasped the huge potential of the two shipyards. I'm sure the launch of this entire range of new yachts on the market will bring us great satisfaction". "It just seemed like a natural choice to make," Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman of CRN, said, "within the sphere of the perfect synergy of a group which aims to continue innovating, and to maintain its leading position of the international nautical market. CRN and Riva have been unanimously acknowledged as brands of excellence, and our union in this project can only be synonymous with products of high quality and elegance". The project for the fi rst model in the new line, a 68 metre yacht featuring clean lines, will be presented as a world preview at the XIX Monaco Yacht Show on 24th September 2009. Following this, an entire CRN and Riva range will be developed, beginning with a 50 metre model. The new collection will draw its inspiration from the current Riva range, of which it represents an ideal continuity in the megayacht universe. Although the designs slightly resemble some of the models of the past and draw on the historical relationship between the two shipyards; the projects have been devised as yachts of the future, combining CRN and Riva's natural tendency to innovate with a constant attention to timeless design.

THE ITALIAN DESIGN COURTS LEISURE BOATING: CRN ANNOUNCES ITS NEW PROJECTS AT MONACO
Three of the most important Italian architectural firms design with CRN shipyard.
Monaco, 24 September 2009 - CRN, the shipyard of Ancona - part of the Ferretti Group S.p.A. - that projects and designs leisure boats (ships) from 40 metres to 85 metres long, today, at the international yacht show of Monaco, is presenting four new projects developed by the engineering department of CRN together with three prestigious Italian architectural firms specialized in designing leisure boats with refined and timeless designs: Nuvolari&Lenard, Studio Zuccon International Project and Francesco Paszkowski Design.
CRN has built 10 boats, 5 of which are made of steel and aluminium (one 72m, two 60m, one 58m, one 80m ships) and 5 are made of composite (one 40 mt CRN 128' and four Navette 43 mt) testifying the flexibility of a shipyard in continuous turmoil and change. Within this context there are new projects and megayachts that are being studied and others that are currently under construction. Among these is the "Clarena 2", 72m, hull number 124, which is the biggest launched by CRN (September 19), realized in collaboration with Studio Nuvolari-Lenard. "Clarena 2" reveals the ability of CRN to combine elegance and design in exclusivity. The slender hull forms, combined with the very modern and sleek exterior lines, emphasized by the distinctive and sharp bow, characterize as well as distinguish "Clarena 2" within the range of yachts of the same size. The 72 m. is a steel and aluminium displacing vessel, designed to give importance to conviviality and the outdoors. For this purpose, at the stern of the lower deck there is a completely innovative area which can be set up as a "beach club" which is over 100 m² wide. The stern port turns into a spacious beach at sea level, equipped with an outdoor shower and a sundeck which guests can use as a solarium. Five suites and a ship owner's cabin are reserved for the 12 guests hosted on this mega yacht. Two additional cabins, located on the lower deck, are reserved for children and their carers. Each area of the boat has an easy access or is close to the sea. Moreover, great importance has also been given to the galley, in a 50 square metre space, upon the express request of the ship owner who is a great gourmet. The design of the interiors is inspired by a neo-classical style revisited with stylish forays are meant to satisfy the visit of the ship owner in terms of functionality and relaxation. "We are present at Monaco with futuristic projects that reflect the spirit of the CRN shipyard: continuous desire to grow" - affirms Lamberto Tacoli, Chairman of CRN - "Our boats have the distinctive character of the shipyard of Ancona: being flexible to meet new stimulating challenges within naval design combining cutting-edge high technology with design through the collaboration of our finest designers and architectural firms. Our goal is to build the boats that our customers want according to their inclinations and passions".
THE VESSELS BEING BUILT
The continuous research leads CRN to venture into ever newer projects which demonstrate the competences of the designers and shipyard workers when producing a unique craft. The projects in progress combine advanced technology with the aesthetic choices that reflect the owner's tastes that are interpreted with the skills of the architectural firms.
M/Y CRN 125 58 metres
Internal and external design by Studio Zuccon International Project The design of the CRN 125 58m is the result of extreme attention given to every area of the boat and it is characterized by spatial and shape solutions, both on the inside and the outside, giving the craft a strong identity. While using one of the most established schemes in naval design, there are various distinctive elements within the distributive-functional system: the living room at the stern has been combined with a floodable garage, which the owner can access through the lateral port by the tender. The dining area in the larger hall is in a very panoramic position on the upper deck, making it possible to form a very spacious living area on the main deck, structured according to the owner's needs. There is a significantly large sundeck which is32 m long, also equipped with a gym as well as a helipad, besides the other facilities that are normally present on this kind of deck, that is, a swimming pool and a sundeck. The design of the external shape of the boat is the primary objective in the realization of a strongly identifying formal system. The key points of the project are: the unity of form, the continuity of the outer surfaces between the hull volumes and the superstructures, and the use of a two-colour scheme as an element that strengthens the identified volumes.
M/Y CRN 129 80 metres 2011
External Design by Studio Zuccon International Project Interior Design by Laura Sessa Romboli The 80m CRN design, the biggest vessel being built at present in the shipyard of Ancona, is characterized by the search for great balance, both in its formal components as well as in its distribution and function. The greatest commitment that has characterized the entire ideation process of this leisure boat is the search for "contemporary classics" with a "timeless" factor. The distributive and functional system is divided into 6 points functionally differing one from the other: 1. sub lower deck for services, laundry and storage; 2. lower deck for crew, galley, spa and garage; 3. main deck for guests' sleeping area and the main living room; 4. upper deck for dining room, living room with a view, gangway and captain's area; 5. owner's deck; 6. sun deck.
The main elements identifying the subdivision are: the direct access between the main deck residence and the living room - spa area, the seats at the far aft with a large tailgate opening, the circular staircase, a pivot around which the whole ship system is built, with a lift that connects all decks and which is an element of formal definition for the sun deck, and the choice of the dynamic form of the piloting gangplank to ensure the greatest possible visibility. Furthermore, the upper deck, which is fully dedicated to the ship owner, is equipped with all kinds of facilities required, including that for the landing of a helicopter. The size and the equipment of the external areas guarantee the possibility to experience conditions of maximum family conviviality or maximum privacy for every guest. The design of the external forms of the craft is based on the principle of integration between the compositional elements of linearity and continuity of opaque and transparent surfaces together with the insertion of "exceptional" formal elements with greater complexity and dynamics such as those on the owner's bridge, the gangway and the sundeck. The result is a formal balanced system which, despite its consolidated stylistic elements, such as horizontal bands, is strongly identified by the imprinted formal progression as well as the simpler shapes of the hull and the first decks, becoming more complex as one moves higher up.
THE PROJECTS Besides the vessels being built. CRN focuses on some projects that are still being studied so as to propose new technological and aesthetic solutions while continuously communicating with the clients.
M/Y CRN 132 60m Francesco Paszkowski Design Project It has been proposed that the family feeling of the CRN boats, characterized by big volumes, the layout and the living area on the aft should be maintained. It is worth noting that there are 2 captain's cabins. Besides the captain cabin on the innovative main deck, the wheelhouse on the upper deck, which has been moved to the sun deck, makes space for a beautiful huge captain cabin with a 180° view. A private "terrace" in the bow equipped with a private Jacuzzi furnishes a completely privileged area. On the same deck, from amidships to the stern, lies a guest area which consists of an ‘inside-outside' original space with teak flooring, with a large window which directly links the external and internal spaces that form an open plan. There is also the concept of a beach club at the stern, which has become the signature feature of CRN. At the back, there is a spacious garage which can keep 2 tenders of 7.5m. Large spaces are designed for the deck house situated on the sun deck, where the wheelhouse is linked to the captain's cabin. At the back there is a gym and spa area. On the same deck there is a sun deck and a ‘touch and go' helipad. It is worth noting the characteristic of an extra deck, which is unusual for a 62m: "funnel deck", a fifth deck with a big inbuilt Jacuzzi covered by a mast with a private sundeck area.
Finally, we mention the large internal areas with two huge owners' suite and important outside areas which have a sundeck including the funnel deck, another hallmark of the CRN boats.
M/Y CRN 85m Francesco Paszkowski Design Project The 85m project would like to maintain the characteristics of the internal and external characteristics of the CRN boats. The stern, the first element that one sees upon boarding, is important and equipped with a big flash to the deck swimming pool of 7m x 5.5m. The entire aft deck has large spaces: about 20m long, which elongates to about 25 if one takes into consideration the cockpit, which is about 13.5 m wide. The upper deck, which is exclusively used by the ship owner, extends from the centre of the ship by about 200 m² and is equipped with a bed with a view and a private ‘terrace' at the bow with comfortable seats.
The areas of the lower and sub lower deck are exclusively dedicated to storage and to the crew which is made up of 28 people, while the main deck with its 6 guest cabins is dedicated entirely to the guests. The beach club with its 2 open lateral staircases is always present emphasizing its grandeur. At the back there are two big garages. The sun deck is dedicated entirely to wellness, with a fitness centre of 78 square metres together with a Turkish bath with another small spa of 8 m².
